And the PH Telco War continues… Smart vs Globe

Today Globe held a press conference to further explain the data released by NTC recently. They had to defend their network and accepted some facts from the Commission.

When Samsung released an ad the other day directly mentioning its rival Apple, we were not surprised that Globe mentioned Smart in their press release.

Smart’s on their part also said:

Globe distributed the benchmark result, check the scoresheet below, click to enlarge image.

Globe admitted on some areas where they are defeated by Smart, but insists scores are negligible like the Call Setup Time which they scored 11.9 seconds while Smart scored 11.74 seconds. NTC’s standard for this is below 14 seconds. And Globe underscores that this benchmark was done on their legacy network, not in their yet to be completed USD700M new network.

To make it fair, here are the press releases of both telcos.

And the war continues like we mentioned, it will not stop… and nobody will admit who is number two. This is simply like the network war between ABS-CBN and GMA7.

I am a Globe postpaid subscriber, and this is my appeal to Globe – let your subscribers defend you in this war. Like what the Apple fans did when Samsung launched the ad vs iPhone 5, Apple did not fire back, instead the fans of Apple did it for them, period. If the Davao and Cebu network is now under the “new” network, let your subscribers in those areas speak.

During the press conference, I asked a fellow blogger to make a speedtest just to compare our speed. I am subscribed to Globe Plan 1000, and he is subscribe to Smart.  His phone got around 3Mbps while my phone can’t even Ping. He did two more speed tests and the average speed is the same, while I cant even finish one speed test. Our location is in Greenbelt.
